Where is it?
The beautiful Portes du Soleil (French for “The Doors of the Sun”) offers over 650kms of marked piste weaving between Switzerland and France. Champoussin, at 1600 meters is situated on the Swiss side with majestic views of the Dents du Midi.
How to get there?
Geneva International Airport is the closest airport, situated about a one and a half hour scenic drive away. The are plenty of car rental services available at Geneva Airport and the resort is a 1 hour 45 min scenic drive that takes you along the shores of Lake Geneva ( Lac Leman). The closest mainline train station is Aigle, from which we can arrange a local taxi transfer to complete your journey which is only a half hour drive away.
What to do?
In the winter months Champoussin becomes a snow lovers paradise. It’s the ideal starting point for beginners, families and experienced skiers alike. The Sépaya ski piste runs past Amici, a great blue piste which is free for children up to 13 years old. For the more advanced there are some great off-piste areas within minutes or venture into the 650 km of the resort just waiting to be discovered. The Swiss Ski school is on our doorstep and offers individual and group lessons to suit all levels.
The uncrowded pistes of Champoussin offer something for everyone. Its the ideal base for total beginners and families with quiet wide runs. For the more advanced you have access to the whole Portes du Soleil ski region on one ticket…..and if you’re lucky enough to experience an overnight snowfall you’ll be treated to some of the best off piste skiing in the region.
For the non skiers there are endless possibilities from the countless walking trails, a hotel swimming pool, historic Champery’s indoor ice rink, thermal baths in Val d’Illiez or for the more adventurous… tandem paragliding.
In the summer months our mountains are alive with walkers and mountain bikers enjoying the summer lift services in the region to access breathtaking scenery and fresh mountain air. Champoussin is a perfect base for exploring the beautiful region of Valais and even making a day trip into nearby Italy.
For those with a taste for water the shores, beaches and lakeside towns of Lake Geneva are a 30 min drive away and offer a sun drenched paradise in the warm summer months.
Switzerland also boasts many summer music festivals including the world renowned Montreux Jazz Festival just 40 mins drive from the resort.
